The Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program is a national program that pays for some or all of the costs of medical, dental, and pharmacy that are NOT covered by other health plans for eligible First Nations and Inuit.

For Nunatsiavut beneficiaries, this means the NIHB is intended to supplement the benefits provided by provincial/territorial health plans, private insurance plans, and the Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment. Beneficiaries must use other available health plans and insurance options before they can access NIHB.

For more information about the NIHB program and what you are entitled to as a beneficiary, please visit our Department of Health and Social Development page.
