Co-Management
Co-operative management boards or agencies are hallmarks of comprehensive lands claims in Canada. The Labrador Inuit Land Claim is no different. Our Agreement provides for two co-management boards; one for wildlife and plants, and a second for fish. Labrador Inuit experience with co-management predates our Land Claim, however. As a result of the impending Voisey's Bay mineral development, Labrador Inuit entered into an environmental management agreement with the company and other partners. The end result is the Voisey's Bay Environmental Management Board.
