Legal Services, Public Property and Community Justice
Employees in this division are responsible for legal service, public property and community justice.
Legal services are provided internally to the government. It includes preparation and review of government contracts, Nunatsiavut legislation and regulations and all general legal work. It is reinforced where needed with contracted legal advisers with specific experience and expertise.
Public property includes Nunatsiavut government owned facilities used for healthcare, employee residences, and office buildings, among other facilities. Priorities for employees in this division include planning for the Nunatsiavut legislative building in Hopedale, an administrative centre in Nain and additional employee housing in Nunatsiavut communities.
Community justice is a general social service that includes supporting beneficiaries with criminal issues, and supporting the government as it develops legislation, regulations and policies affecting social issues. A priority for this division is coordinating findings and recommendations from the Nunatsiavut Government committee hearings on drug and alcohol abuse.
